Touched down in the wee hours of the morning at the Perth Airport. Yes! I survived the flight, in the midst of either being kicked in the ribs or head butted by 宝贝. We lifted the armrests and she was lying horizontally across us, forming a huge “H”. She was up and perky when the flight landed (you can imagine how my panda eyes looked like).
We picked up our car key from the car rental counter at the airport and dragged an excited toddler, while pushing a whole cart of our *barang to hunt our car down. When we got there, my *DH exclaimed,”Is this the right car?? Why does it look so small??”
“What do you mean it’s too small?? It certainly looks big enough to me.”
“Didn’t you book a 2l car? How are we going to fit the luggage into the boot???”
(Trying to hide a guilty look)
“Orh!!! You tried to save money by booking the smallest car??!!”
“Well, it’s not the smallest!! It’s medium size!” I protested. “Ok ok let’s upgrade it.”
So we trudged back to the counter, with 宝贝valiantly flagging away the congregation of dung flies that had zeroed in on her and us. I hate those darn flies!! I hadn’t thought that they would arrive so early in the season.
“We can give you an upgrade to a 2l but we don’t have an MPV available now.”
(MPV!!! I only agreed to an upgrade but not to an MPV! *Heng! They didn’t have one available. By now you would have discovered that I’m a Scrooge when it comes to travelling. But I have recently let loose of the budget because of 宝贝 but I’m certainly not going to empty it!!!
“GPS?”
“No lar!! Nobody uses GPS in Australia!!” (Giving him a look of disdain. The truth is the GPS costs a bomb every day!) “I have travelled here a few times with Sharon. We didn’t get lost! Surely your navigation skills are better than hers?!” (Ok that sealed the deal… *evil laugh*)
The car rental give us a thick map of the area and a detailed map on how to get out of the airport. Good enough!!
So off we went to Fremantle Market!
